- For all you little white headphone-rockin' folks out there,
we have some podcast stuff for you:
Firstly, check out Hardtravelin's series, called
Podtravelin',
the first of which featured our song "Solar" from The
Year in (Missing) Seven Inches. These are like mix tapes
from Q himself, with some new stuff, some old stuff, and all
quality.
Then, you can download our recent performance in WYEP's
gleaming new studio for their Third
Thursdays "local music happy hour" concert series.
This is nearly an hour, and we think it's one of our best sets
ever. No, really.
- "Hardtravelin' 2006: The Year in (Missing) Seven
Inches" is done! This CD comes in 7" packaging,
complete with art from each band, and boy what a mix. The sweet
and catchy punk of Flotilla
Way, the heavy hardcore crash of Fuckedupmess,
and our three songs we recorded with Mike of Lab Partners. Try
one on for size on the Songs
page, and if it fits, visit Hardtravelin's
site to pick up a copy.
- Thanks to Vinnie of WXDX, who invited us
to play in the station's studio for his Edge
of the X show on Sunday nights (in which he bravely
attempts to breathe some life into corporate radio). So that's
what's inside that copper cube on the Parkway West... Listen
to "Lando" and "Solar" from that session
on the Songs page.
- A snowball's chance in hell, you say? We were excited,
to say the least, to find out we've gone from "rejected"
to "standby" to playing a showcase at NXNE
in Toronto! We play Saturday, June 10 at the Fox
and Fiddle. Hope those Canucks are ready for the space
rock...
- Going back to Dayton - to record! Friday, June
2nd, we're playing on opening day of the Three Rivers Arts Festival, then loading
the van and heading to Lab Partners' lair. They have graciously
offered to record a few songs, and in good time, as Q of Hard
Travelin' Records wants to put out a 7" for us.
Well, a virtual 7" at least - part of a CD compilation tentatively
titled "Hardtravelin' 2006: The Year In (Missing) 7"s",
to be released in late summer.
- A nice surprise - the City Paper recently listed the top
10 local songs as rated by listeners of Pittsburgh
Net Radio, and our song Airbomb was #2! Thanks to
the voters. And thanks to PNR for making my workdays more musical.
- We have a few copies of the Cock-Now zine for sale, only
$5. Featuring (in addition to Aydin) Panda Riot (they're playing
with us here March 25th), Apollo Heights
(man are they good), Ifwhen, and other good music and lots of
poetry. Click
to read Cock-Now online. But really, since this is
a handmade punk zine, having paper in hand is better, so send us an email to order.
- We're hosting a couple really good bands from the NYC
area Thursday Feb. 16, So L'il and Ifwhen. Ben
from So L'il has interviewed us for the Cock-Now zine put out
by the same label So L'il is on, Goodbye Better. It should be
an interesting interview aliens fondling us, indeed...
check out the Shows page
for details.
- Our recording is now available at a bunch of local places
as well as from CDBaby
and on iTunes. (Hint - it costs less at your friendly local merchant!)
Check the Songs
page for details. -- You can also hear it on some local stations.
- We got some great press in local papers:
Pittsburgh City Paper
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
This is going to be a fabulous
show, with local favorites of ours, Black Crash, and kick-ass Brooklynites,
Autumn
Thieves, at Modern Formations (one of our favorite
venues to play). Saturday November 18th. Special treats being
planned right now!
- October 2005 - (drumroll please...) The CD is DONE!
Is it still "late summer"? According to the weather
it is, and "Space Affects the Spectator" is now no longer
a dream, it is a reality!
We're playing a couple 'Burgh shows in October, then a couple somewhere
else (Detroit?) before we host a CD Release Show. Details to come.
Look for our baby to appear in local music stores.
In the meantime, check out a couple songs.
We are ecstatic!
- It's what all the kids are doing lately, so we now have
a Myspace
account. Pretty cool, really - you can hear songs, read Mark's
witty blog posts, and join up as a Friend.
- The BikeFest!
party was fantastic. A great time was had by all (even with some
drunken bike accidents). BikeFest! was a great weeklong series
of events that we were proud to be a part of. The Critical
Mass ride swelled to well over 200 participants before ending
at the party. Check
out the photos on Bike Pittsburgh's website.
- Well the CD is progressing along. Look
for a release date in late summer. And check out two more songs,
closer to being finished than the last ones (click
here).
- We were honored and grateful to be a part
of the latest compilation from Pittsburgh's Hard
Travelin' Records, The
Long Run of Small Steps. This
is indeed the first song we've put out in material form and it's
nice to have it included with such an impressive group of local
offerings. Available from Hard Travelin' and good local record
shops like Paul's
and Brave New World.
2004
- November
29 - Check it out. Two songs finished (at least enough to show
off) - click here.
- August
21 - Um, yeah... mastering never takes only a month.
- July 11,
2004 - We're planning to be back in action soon. Recording on
our first album is done, and mastering will be done in about
a month.
- May 27,
2004 - City Paper news brief about Ghost Bike and the benefit show.
- May 20,
2004 - Spurred by Shannon's accident and others, some concerned
cyclists have started Ghost
Bike Pittsburgh, a public art project to raise awareness
of car/bike collisions. We played a benefit show (an all-eBow
set for us) for the project at Mr. Roboto May 21.
- March 27,
2004 - Due to a recent accident, our guitar player, Shannon,
is out of commision for a while. Stainless steel pins in the
wrist will do that to you... although
he says he'll be able to hold an E-Bow pretty soon. So look out
for an upcoming benefit show for the White Bicycle Project.
Please, when you're driving, look out for
those of us on bicycles.
